Volunteer Information
Make a Difference!

With more than 20,000 animals per year coming into our care, our shelter is always in need of volunteers to help make the animals' stay at the shelter pleasant, increase adoptions and provide foster care when needed. Volunteers are an invaluable component of our shelter and serve a number of important functions to better the lives of the animals. Volunteers really do make a difference!

Who Is Eligible?

Animal lovers from ages 16 to senior, with a variety of skills and experiences who want to make a difference in the lives of shelter animals. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to have hands-on contact with the animals. Applicants must be free of criminal record.

How Do I Get Involved?

The first step is to attend a General Shelter Orientation, which are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Orientation is held at 4145 Branch Center at the corner of Kiefer and Branch Center in the Cooperative Extension Building around the corner from the shelter. Orientations are not held at the shelter. An application and other required forms will be provided at orientation (please bring a pen). Teens must attend with a parent or guardian. No appointment is necessary to attend.
