The rabies vaccination, which must be valid through the license 
period, is a mandatory prerequisite to the issuance of a license.

» Make check or money order payable to Sacramento County.  
  Do not mail cash.  

» Enclose a copy of the rabies certificate 
 (metal tags are not proof of vaccination).                                                               

» A copy of the spay/neuter certificate must be submitted for animals 
  not previously licensed.

» Sacramento County Code (Sections 8.24.030 and 8.25.030)requires that 
  all dogs and cats over four months of age be vaccinated against rabies 
  and licensed.

» Animals belonging to new residents and those that are newly acquired 
  must be vaccinated and licensed within thirty days or a $15 penalty 
  fee will be added.                                                                      

» Animal license renewals are due on the expiration date of the current 
  license each year and are delinquent fourteen days after the expiration|
  date.        
 
» A PENALTY FEE PER ANIMAL will be added if the license is not renewed within 
  the fourteen days after the expiration date. $15 Fee for Citrus Heights, Galt, Folsom and Isleton;  
  $100 for County residents
