Feral Cats and Kittens
A
feral cat has been separated from domestication and become wild,
whether through abandonment, loss, or running away. Feral cats
may live alone, but are usually found in large groups called
feral colonies. The average life span of a feral cat that
survives beyond kitten-hood is usually less than two years while
a domestic housecat lives an average of sixteen years or more.*
Since cats will come repeatedly each year and have five to seven
kittens in each litter, an unaltered female cat can produce
hundreds of kittens in a lifetime. It's extremely important to
spay/neuter all cats.
