Duncan’s Story

Photograph of duncan looking at the camera.
Duncan was adopted from the Sacramento County Shelter. He is wonderful and the most loving dog I’ve ever had. In late February of 2004 Duncan decided to do some running around and disappeared from our yard. After three months of calling local shelters, I had given up hope. Fast forward to July and I received a phone call from the SPCA telling me that they had picked him up wandering the streets. At this point it had been five months. I couldn’t believe it.

I had Duncan micro chipped when I first adopted him. I was told that is one of the first things any shelter checks for when a new dog arrives. All it took was one scan and they knew he belonged to me. Two days later, Duncan was home again.

It’s amazing what one choice can do. I am glad I chose to microchip Duncan. If I hadn’t I would still be wondering who was feeding and playing with my dog. My partner and I are very happy to have him back.
